Florida Man in Custody Following Shooting Rampage That Left His Daughter, Ex-Wife's Boyfriend Dead

A Florida man went on a shooting rampage Saturday night, killing his teenage daughter and ex-wife’s boyfriend. His ex-wife was shot multiple times during the incident.

Police say Jose Antonio Negron confronted the three at a home in Lakeland, Fla. The argument began in the garage and moved into the house. Negron allegedly shot dead his daughter, Marta Negron, 15, and Luis Fernandez, 46. The two were pronounced dead at the scene. His ex-wife, Olga Gonzales, 46, who was shot more than once, was able to walk to a neighbor’s home and call police. Police were unable to confirm where the shooting took place.

Negron, 54, turned himself into police early Sunday moring, Melius said. It was unclear what sparked the shooting.

The CBT that best fits this article is Sin: Mankind is totally depraved and his sinful nature is seen throughout history. Law and government were established to restrain this depravity in the governors as well as the governed. It is always tragic when one hears stories like this and unfortunately because of Man's depravity and sin such things will continue to happen and even worse things are happening as we speak. It is truly something that breaks the heart when we think of the way the entire world is corrupt.

Eight dead in New York from gun violence during bloody Memorial Day weekend

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2011/05/31/2011-0531_families_torn_apart_in_spate_of_violence.html?r=news

The bullets flew over the Memorial Day weekend leaving eight people dead of gun violence during the respectful holiday. With each killing, a family was torn apart. Claudia Milan, 29, was show in the face while holding the hand of her terrified 2 year old son. Milan fell to the ground and her son knelt by her side, clutching his dying mother, a witness said.  Other victims of different murder crimes included a young pregnant mother and her boyfriend, a father who worked as a bricklayer, and a 16 year old student.  The deaths are devastating, especially on what is supposed to be a weekend to celebrate men and women who have fought valiantly for our country. While the murder rate nearly matches that of last year, homicides have been on the increase in recent months. As of Feb. 23, murders were down 25% compared with last year. It goes to show that some people have truly no mercy.

The CBT that best relates to this article is Sin: Mankind is totally depraved and his sinful nature is seen throughout history. Clearly we can see the depravity of people when a man is able to kill a mother right in front of her child. To take away that child's greatest thing in his life. We know that this and much worse happens everyday in the world but when we are reminded like this, it is hard not to feel utter disgust and sorrow, much as I imagine God feels at seeing our sin.

Royal wedding hat sells for $131K

Royal wedding hat sells for $131K

The ridiculous hat that was seen by all at the royal wedding went on sale on Ebay and brought in quite a few bucks. The winning bid of 81,100.01 pounds (about $131,341) was placed hours before the end of the auction. As crazy at this all sounds it isn't all bad because all the proceeds went to charity. Beatrice, the hats owner, donated the hat to be auctioned online on eBay.com, with proceeds to benefit  charities that help children. The listing describes the silk hat as a "unique sculptural celebratory headpiece.Proceeds from the auction benefit The Little Bee Initiative, a campaign set up by the princess to benefit UNICEF UK and Children in Crisis, according to the listing.

The CBT that applies here is that of Growth: We must be stewards of the blessings that God gives us. While I am not sure if the buyer of the hat was thoroughly interested in the charity aspect of the buy or just wanted the hat because it was a recognized thing, that lady who sold it has followed the CBT of Growth. She could have easily kept the hat or sold it and kept the money, but she knew she had many blessings already and that she needed to give to others. The talk and sale of the hat all seem silly, but its good to know that a genuinely good and productive thing has come from it.

Mother Uses Botox on 8-year old

Authorities in California are investigating a mother  for admitting that she injects her 8-year-old daughter with the anti-wrinkle drug Botox. She appeared with her daughter on ABC's Good Morning America and San Francisco’s Child Protective Services was flooded with hundreds of calls from people concerned about the girl’s well-being. Campbell enrolls Britney in beauty pageants and says she got the idea to give her daughter Botox from other pageant mothers.
Botox injections can be painful and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18.

The CBT that best fits this article is Growth: God’s people are stewards of His blessings, and with those blessings come great responsibility to further God’s ministry of redemption. These blessings include children and parent must take the responsibility of taking care of them to their best ability and ensure that they grow up in following Christ.

Al Qaeda Planned to Attack U.S. Trains

Al Qaeda was plotting an attack on U.S. trains on the upcoming anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, according to some of the first information gleaned from Usama bin Laden's compound, a U.S. official confirmed. As of February 2010, the terror organization was considering plans to attack the U.S. on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. One idea was to tamper with an unspecified U.S. rail track so that a train would fall off the track at a valley or a bridge, according to a joint FBI and Homeland Security bulletin sent to law enforcement officials around the country Thursday. The Al Qaeda planners noted that if they attacked a train by tilting it, the plan would only succeed once because the tilting would be spotted the next time.On Monday the FBI and Homeland Security warned law enforcement officials around the country that bin Laden's death could inspire retaliatory attacks in the U.S., and terrorists not yet known to the intelligence community could be operating inside the country. The transportation sector -- including U.S. rails -- remain attractive targets for terrorists.

The above article is journalism. The reporter who wrote this article accurately included facts about the event, while simultaneously informing the community. They did not take a biased view on the issues but rather reported the facts that would inform the reader. Providing  sufficient information to be called a journalist.

The CBT that best relates to this article is Sin: "Mankind is totally depraved and his sinful nature is seen throughout history. Law and government were established to restrain this depravity in the governors as well as the governed." Clearly these are evil, depraved people. To do this much harm to others is the clear work of the Enemy.  We however must remember that we too are evil in that we also partake of sin. While most if not all of us will never  do such horrific things as did these people, we are too in need of salvation. We must pray that somewhere, somehow through some miracle, these people may be touched by the Spirit.

Karl Rove Opinion

The article above is written by Karl Rove. Basically it talks about the speech that President Obama gave a few weeks ago on the deficit and budget. Essentially he is not pleased and feels that President Obama is not a leader. That he has shown time and time again that he is not a leader at all and should be taken out of office as soon as possible.

This isn't journalism. It is highly biased to begin with. And while the piece is an opinion editorial that normally has a certain viewpoint that needs to be made, it is also disrespectful to Barack Obama. Calling the President, "Mr. Obama" constantly and not once referring to him as "President,"Rove is intentionally showing disdain for the President that goes beyond just political disagreement. It is a clearly rudely written piece and does not qualify as journalism.

The CBT for sin (Language Arts) states, "A Godless society, blinded by sin, rebels against God and arrives at false conclusions." Perhaps Rove does not directly rebel against God in the sense that he is attacking God but he still disobeys and misses the teachings of God controlling the rise and fall of nations and rulers and the respect that needs to go to someone placed in control and the respect that needs to be given to all people in general

These are "Christians"???

Westboro Baptist Church Plans to Protest Elizabeth Taylor's Funeral

On Thursday, March 23, screen legend Elizabeth Taylor died at the age of 79. Of course, many mourned her deaths and showed their respect and their condolences to the family of the actress who is considered to be one of the last great classic actresses of the Golden Era of movies. However not all people want to show their respect. The article is about the Westboro Baptist Church who revealed plans to protest and picket outside the funeral of Elizabeth Taylor.Margie Phelps, daughter of the hate group's leader Fred Phelps, tweeted Wednesday that they would picket Taylor's funeral, most likely because of Taylor's gay friends and humanitarian work against AIDS. Phelps also tweeted several attacks on Taylor, including "RIP Elizabeth Taylor is in hell as sure as you're reading this & getting mad as a wet hen. She should've obeyed God. Too late!" This without a doubt was met with much dissapointment, anger and sadness at the actions of these people.

Journalism is reporting events to the community so that the community can become self-governing and independent. Therefore this is journalism. It provides information on the recent death of a person and the actions of other people in response to it. By reporting on the actions of these people, others can learn the kind of evil in the world and do things to oppose these type of actions

The CBT that best relates to this article is Evangelism: God has specific directions (absolute law) concerning man’s relationship to both Himself and his fellow man. God calls us to show love for our neighbors and spread his Word. The actions of the Westboro church are in no way the love that Jesus spoke of and we can learn from this, to be wary of those who claim to be Christian and allows us to reflect on our own actions.
