The above article describes a natural hot spring that is located in snow-covered Nagano, Japan. However this is no ordinary hot spring. No no no; the spring is teeming with monkeys! Real life, lovable, poo-flinging monkeys!! Tourists and scientists are flocking all over to come and see these red faced versions of Curious George. One could say that people are bananasfor them! These monkeys basically just chill out in these hot springs like a hot tub filled with a bunch of middle age couples from the 70's. Except more hairy!......well maybe. Anyway these little simians are simply to die for.
Is this journalism? Absolutely! Sure monkeys may not be the most pressing news story to hit in the past week or really provide an essential piece of information for our society to continue but its still journalism. It reports on a place and an event thats going on and someone, somewhere is going to read it and become more knowledgeable and independent. Also come on! Who doesn't love monkeys?!?! They are like little people! Except with no souls!!
The CBT that applies is that of Creation: Language Arts: All men are created equal in God's sight. We are all made in God's image. We must remember that despite the adorableness of these monkeys they are not people. We are separate from creation and did not evolve from these creatures of the wilderness. Though they are truly the kings of the jungle, they are in no way equal or close to us in Creation. Only we are made in God image.
The above article describes a tragedy that hit the United State. The USS Maine exploded and 258 men were killed in it. At the top the question is asked, "Who Destroyed The Maine?." The paper claims that naval officers believe that it destroyed either by a Spanish mine or a torpedo launched by the Spanish army. It offers a reward of $50,000 for turning in who committed the crime. It boldly states "Destruction of the Warship Maine was the Work of an Enemy" It is a very emotion provoking piece that attempts to raise and anger in the readers against the "enemy" that is Spain.
The article above is what is known as "yellow journalism." It was created to incite the readers to support a war against Spain by making them seem like monsters. It contains very little well-researched material. Yellow journalism was created by William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer. We now know that it is likely that the cause of the explosion on the main was due to an unreported fire in one of the coal bunkers and not by a war mine as stated by the paper.
Frank Luther Mott (1941) defines yellow journalism in terms of five characteristics:
scare headlines in huge print, often of minor news
lavish use of pictures, or imaginary drawings
use of faked interviews, misleading headlines, pseudo-science, and a parade of false learning from so-called experts
emphasis on full-color Sunday supplements, usually with comic strips (which is now normal in the U.S.)
dramatic sympathy with the "underdog" against the system.
The above piece is not journalism. It is purposely deceitful and meant to incite a feeling in the readers with a disregard for the truth.
The core biblical truth of Evangelism (Social Science) is God has specific directions (absolute law) concerning man’s relationship to both Himself and his fellow man. Obviously being deceitful in ones work and writing and doing things that are purposely meant to lie to people is not part of God's law for man. By both journalistic standard and God's standards this type of behavior is not acceptable.
On Wednesday, February 10 at 5 p.m. Republican Representative Christopher Lee resigned his House seat. This came about because it was revealed the congressman solicited a woman on Craigslist listed under Women Seeking Men. Lee in a statement said "I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness." Lee is married with a son. Pictures of him bare chested that he sent to the women he contacted began to surface all over the internet. In mere days he resigned as an indication of zero tolerance of scandals by House Republicans
The article is definitely journalism. All that was reported was facts and details about the events that took place and are continuing to develop. The author allowed his audience and the reader to learn more about the scandal and provided them with sufficient information to allow them to come up with their own opinion on the events without the need of the author inserting his.
The CBT for Sin [Language Arts] states that, "mankind is totally depraved and his sinful nature is seen throughout history. We can see from the actions of the man above that even those set in place to rule over us are sinful. Whether it is Christopher Lee, Bill Clinton or a neighbor humanity is depraved and not only in sins like infidelity but in an array of things. We are all guilty. As Christians we knows that the only way to salvation and redemption is Jesus Christ and we hope that our politicians can recognize the same thing

Those Liberals Are At It Again.......
Lets just start with the video:
In the video Fox News Commentator Glenn Beck shows a video of a rally where a group of people spew extremely racist comments along with calls to violence. Also he tells us that.....well actually thats pretty much all we know. How do we answer the who, the what, the when, and where and why? Glenn Beck doesn't give us much. We are told that this is a "group at a rally" we aren't given the name of the group, where or when this took place, or anything of the like. Glenn Beck hints that they are connected with the Democratic Party in his comment "If you are a Democrat this is not who you are but these are the people your party has gotten in bed with" He then goes on to describe that "its like an STD" and that the "disease" will spread to the rest of the party. Luckily, Glenn Beck does offer a solution: sunshine. It looks like Glenn Beck is gonna go ahead and take what is known as "the Care Bear approach" ( little known fact rainbows are the solution for world hunger)
So is this journalism? Well it does give SOME information, very general and very vague information but some. One can deduce from his Glenn Beck's comments that the group is somehow connected the Democrat party so that is information that can be taken from it but wait. Is this true information? On the video, we see the link to BigGovernment.com . Upon clicking on it we see more information on the group.
The website of Common Cause describes the group as "a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to restoring the core values of American democracy, reinventing an open, honest and accountable government that serves the public interest, and empowering ordinary people to make their voices heard in the political process."
So its a not a part of the democratic party? But he said...wait theres more:
" The bio of Common Cause's president, Bob Edgar--a former Democratic congressman from Pennsylvania--informs us that "under Bob's leadership, Common Cause is championing a number of critical issues and reforms....."
Well there you go, clearly this is something that is going to infect the democratic party and turn them all into these violent people.
Journalism? I don't think so. Little to no actual facts are given and the little facts that are given are all convoluted and shrouded in misinformation. Now I have to give Glenn Beck some credit. What the people on this video said was extremely racist and just totally uncalled for. An almost teary eyed Beck is disgusted at the fact at what they are saying about these people "simply because they disagree with them." One can only help but feel that Glenn Beck is simply standing up for this kind of heated rhetoric and has to be commended for it.........until you see this:

Revelation (Social Science): In society, truth is not relative to the individual, but rather is absolute and its source is solely God. Truth is truth no matter what your opinion may be. You may be the most conservative person or the most liberal person but God's truth stands and God's truth tells us that this is no way to carry oneself in respect to others. At no point should we EVER wish someone else's death. There is simply no excuse to be so hateful as all the above people and any others on both the right and left. Truth is not relative it is absolute
