The above article describes a natural hot spring that is located in snow-covered Nagano, Japan. However this is no ordinary hot spring. No no no; the spring is teeming with monkeys! Real life, lovable, poo-flinging monkeys!! Tourists and scientists are flocking all over to come and see these red faced versions of Curious George. One could say that people are bananas for them! These monkeys basically just chill out in these hot springs like a hot tub filled with a bunch of middle age couples from the 70's. Except more hairy!......well maybe. Anyway these little simians are simply to die for.
Is this journalism? Absolutely! Sure monkeys may not be the most pressing news story to hit in the past week or really provide an essential piece of information for our society to continue but its still journalism. It reports on a place and an event thats going on and someone, somewhere is going to read it and become more knowledgeable and independent. Also come on! Who doesn't love monkeys?!?! They are like little people! Except with no souls!!
The CBT that applies is that of Creation: Language Arts: All men are created equal in God's sight. We are all made in God's image. We must remember that despite the adorableness of these monkeys they are not people. We are separate from creation and did not evolve from these creatures of the wilderness. Though they are truly the kings of the jungle, they are in no way equal or close to us in Creation. Only we are made in God image.
