Eight dead in New York from gun violence during bloody Memorial Day weekend

The bullets flew over the Memorial Day weekend leaving eight people dead of gun violence during the respectful holiday. With each killing, a family was torn apart. Claudia Milan, 29, was show in the face while holding the hand of her terrified 2 year old son. Milan fell to the ground and her son knelt by her side, clutching his dying mother, a witness said.  Other victims of different murder crimes included a young pregnant mother and her boyfriend, a father who worked as a bricklayer, and a 16 year old student.  The deaths are devastating, especially on what is supposed to be a weekend to celebrate men and women who have fought valiantly for our country. While the murder rate nearly matches that of last year, homicides have been on the increase in recent months. As of Feb. 23, murders were down 25% compared with last year. It goes to show that some people have truly no mercy.

The CBT that best relates to this article is Sin: Mankind is totally depraved and his sinful nature is seen throughout history. Clearly we can see the depravity of people when a man is able to kill a mother right in front of her child. To take away that child's greatest thing in his life. We know that this and much worse happens everyday in the world but when we are reminded like this, it is hard not to feel utter disgust and sorrow, much as I imagine God feels at seeing our sin.

  1. I totally agreewith your application of the CBT. It totally saddens me to think of how God feels in situations like this. Memorial Day is a day that is meant to unite us as a nation, in pride for our country. Instead, stuff like this ends up happening.. Awful.
